President’s Message

Dear Colleagues,

It is an honour to become the President of this great Association. The tenure of my Presidency is to continue with the good work and the foundations laid by my predecessor. I pledge to continue to advance the profession of Speech and Language Therapy and Audiology in Ghana and beyond.

MISSION STATEMENT

Our mission is to engage members of the Association to have CPD training through seminars/webinars workshops on state-of-the-art clinical practices, conduct research and to stimulate healthy discussions on habilitation and rehabilitation processes among professionals which can promote policy formulation for educational development.

VISION STATEMENT

Our vision is to maximize the functioning levels of clients with hearing and communication disorders, swallowing difficulties, and all associated behaviours, vestibular and associated balance among clients.

OBJECTIVES OF MY PRESIDENCY

Within the next 2 years in office, I intend to champion the following objectives in line with both the mission and vision statements of the Association. Since you are a key stakeholder, I, therefore, seek your assistance to help champion these plans with me.

1. To champion the adoption of a constitution for the Association which will be a binding document and guide members with roles and responsibilities as like-minded professionals.

2. To spearhead the Association in instituting an online quarterly Journal for Speech Therapists and Audiologists in Ghana which will feature issues in line with both the mission and vision statements.

3. To bring together all qualified and licensed Speech and Language Therapists, and Audiologists practicing in Ghana through seminars, webinars, national debates etc geared towards promoting policy formulation for educational development.

4. To project the Association both locally and internationally through the use of an association website, social media and hosting of conferences.

5. Forster closer ties with sister Organisations both locally and internationally through partnerships, collaborations and affiliations.

Review is a performance assessment tool for measuring planned objectives and will be employed accordingly. But I am certain of one thing ‘unless we come together to strive for a common course, we can never make progress as an Association’. Remember that without you there is no STAAG and there is no STAAG without you, therefore you are STAAG. I cannot be a President without you. Let us eschew our differences and work together. Yes, together everyone achieves more.

Sincerely,

Major Emmanuel Deladem Nkornoo, (President of STAAG)

Welcome Message from Immediate Past President

I would like to welcome you all to the official website of the Speech Therapy and Audiology Association of Ghana (STAAG), a forum where as professionals we can keep in touch with each other and share ideas and information.  It will also be a great opportunity to tell the world outside about us, who we are, what we do and equally important, get feedback from them about how we are doing.

We have come this far on the journey to our own “Canaan” and definitely have our own stories of the harsh wilderness experiences to share.  I use this opportunity to encourage the weary pilgrims to tug along slowly but surely.  “Canaan” is not a mirage.  We are not there yet but with commitment, dedication and sacrifice I know we will get there…

Congratulations to the newly sworn-in executive for the good work.

Dr.  Neal Boafo(Immediate Past President, STAAG)
